The Schools of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and the University of St Andrews, which together form EastCHEM, have an international research reputation across a broad range of activities:

  • The Chemistry/Biology Interface area
  • Chemical Physics
  • Molecular Synthesis and Catalysis
  • Materials Chemistry

There are research interactions with other disciplines such as Physics, Biology, Materials Science, Geosciences and Engineering. Researchers are involved in many areas with commercial applications, including nanotechnology, catalysis, carbon capture and utilisation, and Life Sciences.
