School of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences

We are one of four schools within the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, and are headed by Professor Sarah Cunningham-Burley.

Research undertaken in the School of Molecular, Genetic and Population Health Sciences is largely based in the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, and within its component research centres, and in the Centre for Population Health Sciences.

The Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine comprises the Edinburgh Cancer Research Centre, the Centre for Molecular Medicine and the MRC University Unit for Human Genetics, with the Centre for Population Health Sciences being the third research centre in the School.

The School also houses the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit (ECTU), a Collaborative Clinical Trials Unit and the Division of Pathology.
